12 Killed in China Fireworks Store Explosion During Lunar New Year Celebrations
Twelve people were killed in China due to a deadly explosion at a fireworks store in the city of Xiangyang, in the province of Hubei. It is the second deadly explosion that has occurred during the current Lunar New Year celebrations, while on Sunday another explosion occurred in Jiangsu province where eight people were killed.
In the previous incident, the explosion was caused by a local resident lighting up fireworks too close to a store. In light of these recurring tragedies, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management has issued a warning on Tuesday, stating that fireworks are the biggest safety risk during the Spring Festival.
